The project to support olive farmers in rural Idlib started with providing Syrian war victims with the tools for production (tillage, fertilization, pruning, harvesting, marketing) so as to maintain their monthly income as a way to support livelihoods in Armanaz. Through this project, WATAN aims to establish an association that contributes to coordination among farmers, to solve common problems and coordinate their support for the preservation of olive trees and production of oil at the best international standards. The project will provide employment opportunities for more than 50 service workers through workshops for pruning, spraying of paper fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides, as well as the technical support required through the association. The project will include the support of more than 15,000 olive trees. WATAN is committed to supporting the agricultural and livestock sectors as a main source of food security in Syrian cities through activating livelihood support projects.
