Job Summary

    WATAN Foundation in Turkey together with its partners is providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by the Syrian crisis, both in Syria and Turkey.

    WATAN is Seeking a highly motivated individual who would be interested in joining us as Receptionist to answer inquiries and provide information to the general public and visitors of Ankara Community Center.

Position Requirements

    • Demonstrated experience and skills working in customer service.
    • Fluent Arabic in speaking, reading, and writing.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Team player who is able to work collaboratively and with people of diverse backgrounds and cross-culturally.
    • Good understanding of key principles of humanitarian NGOs including accountability, impartiality, neutrality, independence, cooperation, and intercultural understanding.
    • Minimum 1-year experience working in a similar position.
    • A minimum 1-year experience with field work in humanitarian aid, community-based protection, or social work.
    • Fluent Turkish in speaking, reading, and writing.


    Under the supervision of the Community Center Officer the Receptionist will:

    • Greet beneficiaries, record their arrival, arrange an appointment, and direct them in an orderly manner to the appropriate Community Center staff.
    • Receive, screen, and forward telephone calls. Make calls to beneficiaries to provide information, take messages, schedule appointments, remind and update schedules, etc.
    • Respond to beneficiaries’ requests/queries in person and over the phone. Forward or transfer inquiries or take messages for other Community Center staff if required.
    • Provide support to other staff (photocopying, research, organizing, filings etc.).
    • Communicate with and maintain positive relationships with both adult and child beneficiaries.
    • Maintain and display brochures at the Community Center.
    • Attend and actively contribute to CC team meetings.
    • Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to the superior.
    • Advise and assist beneficiaries about WATAN services and schedules upon completion of relevant forms/needs assessment
    • Prepare and update timetable and work plan for Community Center activities with Officer.
