Beyond Liberation: A New Dawn for Youth Empowerment and Civil Engagement – WATAN

Beyond Liberation: A New Dawn for Youth Empowerment and Civil Engagement

Following Syria’s liberation and the increased accessibility of all provinces, humanitarian organisations swiftly conducted surveys and assessments to identify the most pressing needs for sustainable capacity building in the evolving landscape. These efforts revealed significant gaps in living conditions and humanitarian support across many communities.

Recognising these urgent needs, WATAN moved quickly to establish key offices in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, and Latakia. With a clear and structured approach, WATAN launched official platforms to attract passionate young volunteers eager to contribute to the rebuilding of their homeland. The response was remarkable, with volunteers from across the provinces joining under specific criteria designed to maximise the efficiency and impact of their contributions.

To equip volunteers with essential skills and ensure effective fieldwork integration, WATANprovided comprehensive training in monitoring and evaluation, information management, and data collection, all supervised by expert teams. The training emphasised how these activities directly enhance humanitarian response strategies.

A key focus of the programme was data collection techniques, utilising mobile devices and specialised applications. Volunteers were trained in modern, high-precision technologies, ensuring that data collection became faster, more efficient, and highly reliable.

Through these initiatives, WATAN aims to engage Syrian youth in nation-building, providing them with the necessary tools to enter the humanitarian and institutional sectors. The focus remains on developing their abilities to manage humanitarian responses effectively and address the critical needs of Syrian families.

Additionally, WATAN’s team held a series of meetings with donors to strengthen development efforts. They presented strategic projects that had significantly improved the lives of displaced families in north-western Syria and outlined future plans to meet essential needs across various Syrian provinces.

Through these integrated efforts, WATAN continues to solidify its pioneering role as a leading organisation in development and sustainability in Syria. By combining field expansion, youth empowerment, and strong donor partnerships, WATAN remains committed to creating a better future for all Syrians.
